has anyone used 1428 bored cases and a kz1000 cylinder without it leaking like the exxon valdez?

 I'm thinking on doing a solid aluminum 1015 cc base gasket like .030 as the head is decked. Just wondering how long this would be leak free on the street....... any thoughts on this . i hate to throw a good set of cases to the side....... :pinch:

Why would it leak? You have just as much block to case seal area as you would with the 1428

Its the stock block that doesnt work with bored cases. They have holes and divits all over the place. I have done some 1260 cases but I really think your asking for it with 1428. The best stock block is the early 73, it had much less open area.

Well i was under the impression that when you bored it out that big that it would most likely leak. Aint that why people talk about dry blocking? But atleast i feel better cuz i was kinda worried that when i start my fresh 1327 up this week, it would leak. I used three bond on the base gasket so hopefully it wont leak.

I have seen big cases used with stock cylinders before....just saying they seemed to weep oil. maybe they were sealed bad , I'm not sure.

The term "dry blocking" is usually for water cooled engines used at the drag strip.....
keep us posted as to any leaks on start up......
