Have any of you boys used any sort of carbon build-up cleaning products on your KZs? Brands? Results? Cautions? Thanks, Lew.

seafoam works for me. get a few t-fittings and link some vacuum hoses together, then dip the vacuum hoses in the can of sea foam while it is running then rev it. I did it yesterday and it seems to run better.

Free carbon can be removed with a wide range of cleaners, even the simple orange stuff.

Burned on hard carbon is a different story, never found anything that removes it without attacking metal. That is my Holy Grail as I have searched in vain for any cleaner that would dissolve burned on carbon from revolver cylinders or gun barrels.....it would be worth it's weight in platinum.

Toss a big can sea foam in the tank then take it out on an open stretch of back highway and run it through the gears keeping the r's up for a couple miles in 4th gear, youll notice the differance

I'm always careful about recommending carbon cleaner for combustion chambers. Keep in mind that whatever carbon is removed has to go somewhere. If you've got a layer of caked-on carbon and some of it comes off b/c of the cleaner, you have to hope that that chunk makes it out the exhaust valve without getting caught in the seat and bending the valve-stem or alternatively getting caught between the piston and wall and scoring up your cylinder.

I have tried XADO VERY LUBE - ANTI CARBON with fairly good results. I donĀ“t have any proof, but the bike seems to feel better in the range of 2000 to 3500 RPMs. You have to remove sparks, squeeze a tube of the product inside, put again the spark plugs (no boot attached), wait 20 minutes and crank the engine with the starter for 10 seconds. Finally, attach the spark plug boots and fire it up. Tooks several tries to get it alive by the way.... B)
