Oil Cooler Questions.

Which fitting pumps the oil to the cooler and which one is the return line?
Its a pre-J engine.

This 3/8ths line will feed into either end of the oil cooler.
The return line from the other end of the cooler will go to the upper case fitting behind the cylinder (right side of rear engine, oil pressure screw tube)thus feeding oil back into the system being passed up into/through the rear cylinder studs up to the head.
One with thread for oil switch, mounts to top of engine case.
Definitely use new O-rings... As me how I learned this.... (See image) :ohmy: :laugh:

1980 LTD 1000..,1976 LTD 900, have the 1000&900 now. the rest are previous= 1978 KZ 650 B.., 1980 Yamaha XT 500..,1978 Yamaha DT 400.., 1977 Yamaha yz 80..,Honda trail ct 70.., Honda QA 50...5-1/2 hp brigs & straton CAT chopper mini bike...3-1/2 hp mini bike (WHEN GAS WAS ABOUT 45 CENTS A GALLON)!!!!

Under engine case seemed a PITA for oil changes and possible punctures not to mention added heat off exhaust.
Over engine also seemed a PITA due to heat on lines, kind of defeats the purpose of an oil cooler (to cool the oil down)....
