I could not find a word about removing it in the manual and there is definitely no screw or clip retainer. I believe it's pressed in as a sleeve and not intended to be removed. The pinion gear pops out inward but the cam has to be out.

The tach cable screws on the end of the thing so I wouldn't think it could just be stuck in there finger tight with an O ring holding it in.
