that one in the picture almost looks professionally done, are you sure that's not a hardtail?

It is a hardtail but its not originally. It has struts where the shocks go. No its not done professionally lol I just got lucky taking the pic. the head light is not even on, its the reflection of the sun but it turned out looking cool. Uh I have a few other pics but it is not done quite yet so I just have a few "before" type pics you know. I might change some of the paint and I recently took the front fender off and I have added some cool streamlined blinkers. So when shes done there will be more pics. :)

looks like an ltd because of the rake on the triple tree. I would want to do it on mine, its j the engine is wider, and I don't exactly have the option of putting my foot-pegs forward of the place they are at. plus I am already taking a chance of falling off the back under heavy acceleration.

I chopped 6" off the ass of my 305, and never once had the fear of falling off. Haha my bike is a slow terd. Also... I can't tell if what zach305 is describing is a no-start, or a non cranking issue.

I believe your bike doesn't have a kick starter, so have you tried push starting it (bump starting)? My thought is that the battery may not have enough ooomph to crank the engine and still supply adequate current to the coils at the same time. If that is the case bump starting it might work. If that starts the engine the battery needs replacing or the charging system has a problem. Ed

I wired a relay to the coils. giving the coils full battery voltage and bypassing the old wiring. I've also had some bad luck with the carb float bowl valves. the bike runs great now but on the occasional hiccup, one of the valves would get stuck closed and the one bowl would run dry. just crack the drain screw and see if anything comes out. also not a bad idea to do anyway from time to time to drain the water and trash. also the plate the points mount to is some kinda cheap pot metal and the screws strip easily. just make sure they open and close properly and there's good spark

It cranks, It just wont start right now. It turns over but seems to not get any spark. Im thinking it is the ignition coils. The points are opening and have spark in between them but idk so I found a tune up kit that has new ignition points and coils. Imma try them out.

disregard my last post, I didnt realize that I had successfully posted a response to chonus.

ed: I have tried push starting it and no it is not kick start. The points still open and close when I crank the starter so I am going to try and do an ohms test as suggested by another user

chonus:i dont think there is good spark, I did the little test and it made a spark but it wasnt prominent

I would highly recommend wiring a relay in. Costs $20 takes an hour. Stock setup requires battery voltage to travel all the way up the cutoff switch then back to the coils. If I recall I got about an extra half a volt at the coils. Doesn't sound like much but I get a nice spark now. I'll look for the diagram and post a link. Do you have the factory service manual?
