So the other day I was changing the gasket on what I believe is called the mission cover or something like that (the cover behind the front sproket)... Anyways, long story short, a bolt was stuck, the vice grips came out, and I pulled the clutch pushrod out to make some room for myself.
Now I know everyone says DONT PULL THAT ROD OUT!! But I had done it before without any issues. Sure enough, I put the bike back together, and the clutch cable has NO tension on it.
I have had the sproket cover off before many times, so I am sure everything was put back correctly.
I am assuming the little ball bearing has gone somewhere...? Now my question is: did it fall into my oil pan? If not, where did it go? How do I retrieve it?
Definitely feeling like an idiot right now...Thanks in advance for the help...

Everybody worries about that little ball bearing falling out anytime they have a clutch issue, try adjusting the clutch cable first.
When you pulled the cover off you changed the position of the actuator, theres 3 differant adjustments to do between the cable and the actuator to get it back where it should be.
And by the way i too have removed many clutch pushrods and reinstalled them without ever having the ball bearing fall out

On some models, the resulting position is determined when inserting the "threaded" part of the arm into the other part of the mechanism that's attached to the case.

The assembled actuator arm, when attached to inside of the sprocket cover, should be positioned with an angle that provides full movement of the arm when the clutch lever is squeezed.wireman wrote: ...position of the actuator...get it back where it should be....

Patton should get a helpers award....seriously.
He goes the extra mile to help others, and it doesnt go unnoticed.
Cool guy for sure.
Its ball bearing or actuator alignment.
