If not already done, would clean and adjust points.

Including information about bike year and model is helpful to viewers and usually elicits better responses.
It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future.
And may be changed whenever and as often as desired.
If wanting a signature showing information about the bike in posted messages, it's easy to do. Here's how:

By your year they have electronic ignition. No points, unless someone changed the setup.
If you only get one spark then nothing, I would first try a New Plug. Then check the ignition Coil, and the Spark Plug wire/ cap.
Do you have a way to test for voltage and resistance, a Volt Ohm Meter?

What procedure is producing the one single spark?
Does simply turning the ignition switch from OFF to ON produce the single spark?
Does simply turning the ignition switch from ON to OFF produce the single spark?
Is crankshaft rotation required to produce the single spark?
Am thinking the ignition coil has two small wires plus the one large spark plug wire.
One small wire furnishes battery positive voltage to the coil.
The other small wire connects the coil's primary winding to ground (through the igniter).
While grounded, the coil "charges."
When un-grounded (via igniter and pulsing coil during crankshaft rotation), the coil "fires" through the spark plug wire.
Good Fortune!
