Sounds about like what I've been told/seen, too much oil, overpressure, blow out seals. Haven't heard the foam thing before, but it makes sense. Pumps don't work well when moving liquid and air (i.e. foam), so if you're foaming the oil, you could have the oil pump be working at poor efficiency.
