Finish my 1980 LTD Restore was created by etbike3135

Just finished my restoration of a 1980 LTD 1000. I think I got some parts mixed up?

Beautiful man! Looks awesome. But it does look like a '73. Not just the paint but everything else on the bike. And not an LTD for that matter. Not that they made them in 73 anyhow. Rear disk is the only thing that looks post 76 to me.

It is and 80 LTD 1000. Took all the spare parts I could find to turn it into a working mans 73.

That's the only explanation I was thinking of. But figured it was far fetched. Great job! Very impressive. Must have cost a pretty penny. But at least you had the option of selling the '80 LTD parts to make up some of the cost. I can't see how anybody can tell the difference. front forks and rear brake maybe, but people will just think you had to replace it with new modal parts for convenience.

I think I have about $2000 into it. The bike was trashed when I got it, there were no good LTD parts on. I started with a frame and title.

You must have worked hard to get the frame like that. The LTD frames are angled at the seat, unlike the horizontal (non LTD) frames and tough to work with. Good job!
