That will do a 1260 kit, at least for a KZ, that's what I bore them to for a 1260. Great score!

Yes that top case has been bored, crank is welded and looks like a street back cut on trans B)
Make sure to pull it apart and check everything internally though :)

I will but that makes my day or my whole month. I bought the engine for $150 off my brother. someone had stock jugs and pistons on it. as soon as i seen the trans was undercut i looked at the crank and seen it was welded and seen the case was bored and i bout flipped out. So what all should i do to inspect it and make sure its all good? ill get to tearing it apart later today. So since its bored already so big should i still run a 1197 kit? remember it will be rode on the street only. probally will never see the drag strip. Will have town driving on it so it will see some lights on some warmer days probally not much hotter than 90s since i live in indiana.I want it to still be dependable. if i wanna ride it all day i want to be able to take it anywhere and not worry about overheating or other problems from running to big of bore.

Yes 1197 J model pistons are available. The only reason we don't list them is because in the J/GPZs it cost the same as a 1260, and we have found that people never want to pay the same price for a smaller option.

We should probably list them so the guys with the KZ bottom ends can get them.

Just because you find a welded crank in an old KZ motor does not mean it's a healthy crank. It only means it won't spin out of index. Have John inspect the crank for you before you bolt everything together ;) Those cranks are OLD and parts do wear out. The 900 cranks are prone to rod thrust washer wear. This isn't the 1980's anymore. What applied back then as likely to be safe to run can no longer be fully relied on.

1197 J pistons with the block spacer and J head will make a perfectly reliable street motor. If you get caught up in a lot of stop and go traffic on a really hot day, just change the oil & filter.

I got the cases split and got it all apart i will send off the crank and trans to get it all checked out. iam not to happy with the quailty of the undercut on the dogs. they kinda look sloppy to me. I was messing around with the engine before i took it apart and noticed that it didnt want to shift correctly while rotating the crank by hand.but i had the clutch out,so that might of had affect on it. i will get it sent out hopefully tommorrow to get them checked.I noticed someone had did some work on the clutch basket iam gonna post a pic. hopefully you guys can tell me why someone ground on it.
