KZ900 - "Z1E" next to VIN # ??? was created by CasinovaRock23
Hey all,

I was working on my kz900 at my in-laws this past weekend and my father-in-law noticed something interesting... "Z1E" was engraved right next to the VIN# (it was somewhere on the engine on the right side...I can't remember exactly where).

Do all '76 kz900's have this or is this an indication that I may have a mixed parts bike (or a different bike all-together)?

I bought it used only a couple months ago with virtually no documentation so I really have no clue what the pedigree is for this bike.

Maybe a dumb question to all you who know these bikes really well, but I am new to the game and just thought I would see if there is maybe more to my bike than I originally thought.

Thanks

Roger that, that makes sense. I guess I was just a little confused as to why "Z1" would be stamped onto my KZ bike. I thought that perhaps it would indicate that the engine was from an '73-'75 model as opposed to '76.

The '76 and '77 KZ900's were numbered Z1E and Z1F.
