This happened if memory serves me at Dragway 42 in Ohio, while running our teams Dragbike in a AMA Dragbike or IDBA event. We were running in Gas , Turbo, Nitrous class. Dont remember the cc of engine class, but Kevin said all felt good until he felt the heat and say fire shooting out of the corner of his eye while going thru the lites. Boost was over 30 for sure and bike probably had at least 2 stages of Nitrous on it that day. 100 hp in each stage.
Some folks here have been talking adding heavy Nitrous loads to their bikes and I thought this post would temper their judgements. All for going fast , but how deep are your pockets. As we use to say

Think the display idea is a good one . This head was buried in my garage which Im prepping to level to build my new shop.
Maybe I will clean it up and mount it on a base to put on a shelf next to my other racing memoribilia ( cant spell ) Bead blast it and mount on some diamond plate.

Put one of those cheap quartz clock movements on it and it will be "a HEAD of Time"

Someone will call BS on this but it happened. 40 or so years back I saw a Harley drag bike running on nitro that they didnt change the oil in blow both heads off & split the block in half on the starter blocks firing it up. Sounded like a bomb went off, everyone was on the ground !

Damn, that head would make at least 20 of them master cylinder lids if you melted it down and made the molds

at least then it lives on in other parts

I think you'll find that it blew up because the cylinders were full of nitro when they tried to crank it over.

Nitro is a monopropellant explosive. Compress it and nitro WILL explode.

I used to be playswithnitro but; it happens...
