I'm trying to replace the starter clutch on my 1982 GPZ750r, but the nut holding the clutch to the bike won't budge. I don't have impact tools to use, but my breaker bar attempts were unsuccessful in removing the 30mm clutch nut. Is there any way to remove the secondary shaft without removing the starter clutch?

I hope you're right. The manual shows that the clutch needs to be removed to get at some bolts, the oil pan needs to be dropped and then the secondary shaft, which holds the starter clutch, can be accessed.

Wireman is incorrect on this one he is right for the 1000 series engine but the KZ750R is based on the KZ650 engine. The answer is yes you do have to remove the clutch. The is no way around that.
