So I finally got my 650B1 to run, Kick start only at the moment(think the starter may be smoked or bad brushes) But it only runs with the choke on, and has no acceleration. I'm thinking its all the corosion on the points plate and maybe also damaged condensers (probablems resulting from sitting outside in a pasture for about 9 years). I'm just excited that it runs, Cant wait to get more parts to get this little rocket on the road. B)

I remember the first time fired up my b-1, it was so loud cause the pipes had bad holes in them. Its a great bike and once its running in tip top you'll be addicted, im am, and im now just getting parts around for my 810 upgrade.

If it only runs with choke then your carbs need cleaning.

Maybe new carb boots too. Would be recommended if they are hard-ish anyhow.

Do you need a starter motor? I've got one. It's got your name on it if you need it.

Cleaned them, but found the intake/carb holders leaking. Any suggestions on gaskets or a sealer that works good? Threebond? gasket paper? I took the condensers off today and will test them tomarow at work.

Dub, I want to remove the starter to see if it is repairable,(brushes, clean and reassemble or have new windings installed) but what would you want for the starterif that donr workout?

Ohh and I will be replacing the hardened air box boots with new ones from Z1E when funds are more loose.

PM being sent.

Are the boots pliable/soft? If not, just replace them - probably the only real solution.

Which side is leaking? Closer to the air box or closer to the engine?

Yeah, unfortunately the only real solution there will be to replace them. Some guys use silicone adhesive between the boots and the engine, but I'm not sure that's universally agreed upon.

I never heard this bike run the whole time I've had it and fell in Love with the first time I sat on it. The balance that it has when you sit in the saddle. I want to Put a 4-1 Vance and Hines or ZR750 exhaust on it and go cutting some curves with it.

+1 on replacing them. It's well worth it because the new ones will last a long time. Ed
