Make sure you get new vaccuum nipples too. Not sure why the 650/750 boots are more expensive than the 900/1000 - must be a quantity thing - and then on top of it they don't come with the nipples like the bigger ones do.

Ed - do you do anything to your boots to "condition" them? I'm assuming yours are still original

:) I replaced the carb holders, rubber vacuum nipples, and carb to airbox boots about 10,000 miles ago. The funny thing is that the carb holders were leaking bigtime, but from the outside they looked perfect. The problem was a bunch of tiny cracks on the face of the holders where they mate with the cylinder head. The leak test revealed the leaks, otherwise I would have been chasing the poor idle problem forever. I was able to track down all NOS genuine parts, so from that standpoint they are original (not aftermarket). ;) I do use a tiny bit of special lube on the outside of the rubber surfaces, but I don't think that will actually preserve them after seeing where the cracks were. So last Sunday I pulled the advancer apart and cleaned and lubbed and got it all freed up and put it back together. Then I removed the top idler and cleaned the bolts and holes to get the oil out so I could apply some thread locking compound and torque the bolts to put the cam cover back on for the final time (until the next valve adjustment inspection). Then I removed the carb holders and applied a thin coat of GMS to the mating surfaces and reinstalled. Changed the oil and Filter today and fired Her up and WAHOOO!! Runs pretty darn good. :woohoo: So when I can afford the holders She should run like a champ. Now only $400 More and she will road ready :S . Slowly but surely. B)

Since then I have got new tires, rear shoes, clutch lever, good used alloy wheels, new intake boots, air filter, rigged up the right control switch, repaired broken splice in illumination circuit in the gauge harness, reshaped and recovered the seat, replaced the blown headlamp and turn indicator bulb, replaced the battery, and cleaned the tank. Been riding it since july when I got it legal. Love the way this bike handles. This picture shows off the customized seat and cover real well.
