There are no shops around here other than your commercial auto-parts stores. Whats a good site to order my odds and ends?

Oh, and Z1Enterprises can get you Kawasaki parts that aren't stocked if they are available - just ask.

Parts diagrams can be found at Kawasaki.com under Owner Information.
Patton has a little blurb about that around here somewhere...maybe he'll pop in.

as far as local shops I am close to no less than a dozen local shops and dealers and have yet to buy anything from any of them. either they look at you like your stupid or cant get the part or start saying "no we don't" as soon as you mention 1978.
I did find a local guy to mount my tire and he told me before I buy another tire online to give him a shot to meet or beat the price so if I had any problems he could get it warantied (super nice guy)
So I wouldnt sweat the no local shop thing too much most of your tech knowledge and parts locating can be found here. good luck with your adventure

Yeah, and the old guys who run shops that will work on the bike don't want to work with you if you do stuff on your own (can't blame them much - there's not much money in it unless they do everything).

BTW, some of the internet vendors (Z1Enterprises, APE, etc) have a self help component to select appropriate parts for your bike. This requires you to know specifically what motorcycle you have...for example, if you have a 1978 Kawasaki 1000, then you might have an A2 model, not a A1 model (which would be a 1977 year model). 1977 KZ1000A1 were made from mid 1976 through mid 1977...1978 KZ1000A2 were made from mid 1977 through mid 1978). Although there were many similarities between the A1 and A2 models...there are some differences.

Redline cycle service in Skokie, Illinois has to be right at the top of this list, after all he carries as much stuff as z1. People either love or hate Jim though because he can be short on the phone. For some reason folks don't understand it's a one man show there and he has bikes to work on while he's trying to sell parts. He's also super knowledgeable about Z1/KZ's.

Are there any particular parts you currently are looking for, or was it a general question. Ed
