Does anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement exhaust for a 1977 kz1000 a1? Has anyone purchased a tranzac exhaust from Z-power in Australia? Or should i just hunt down a kerker and call it a day.

Motom, It gives me no pleasure to relay this, But.the OE exhaust on the A1 was little more than a Jardine 4-2 chrome unit. The chances of finding 1 in "salvagable" condition are poor. Unless doing a "restoration". I would reccommend almost anything else. (asside from weed burners) and while I'm putting my d##k in the fire. If you actually "ride" your' pet, avoid chrome. Stock systems were double walled at the headers which kept "blueing" to a minimun. todays gas (and probly yesterdays) will "blue" headers quickly, and ridden bikes rust at collecors within a season. exhaust systems are pricy, High temp paint & sandpaper cheep. if your' in for the long run, ceramic's or paint are the way to go to keep your' exhaust sweet. thanks, i found some interesting exhaust headers at z1 enterprises, they offer a two into one. It has a muffler on both sides but looks similar to kerker. i am going to see if i can find photos of them on bike.

I have a Kerker and the header turned blue soon after getting it. If I had a little thought and time (one of my 4-into-2 mufflers literally fell off never to be seen again while riding down the road) I would have ceramic coated just the header. I don't know if this will eliminate the exhaust blueing, but it will drastically minimize it. IMO I like chrome exhaust.

i like both black and chrome. For the bike i am currently working on, 1977 kz1000 a1, i want a chrome set. i would like stock, but they can not be found. I am leaning now to the two into one from z1 enterprises. Chrome. i am not too concerned about blueing.

Motom, are you still interested in a stock set of exhaust for an A1? I have an original A1 set that were a take off set from a new bike the customer wanted 4 in 1 Kerkers. I did try to attach a couple of photos of them but it didn't work.

Here's one more try at that picture but I still don't think it will work. It doesn't appear and I get this strange path for it.

If you are blueing your pipe, your not jetted right. Paint the inside with high heat paint. Three coats internally. If your totally stock, go up one size on main and one size on pilot for a week or so. If it performs ok there, leave it. If its slugish go back to stock jetting. Rich is better than lean my man. Pipes will stay nice and chrome.

Am addicted to Z1's and kz 900's have an el camino, fly rc helicoptors and am strung out on horsepower.
