thanks for the web site. I am looking for height, bucket type and size for all the engines.
J motor valves are .050" shorter in stem length than KZ 900/1000 valves. Works to your advantage when installing OS valves in KZ heads. I'd much rather have 37mm J valve than 37.5 OS KZ valve to work with.
In the 900 - 1100 motors, only the 83-85 GPz11 had shim on bottom buckets & retainers.
All 650 & 750 4 cylinder engines are S.O.B.
Of all the S.O.B. motors the OEM GPz11 retainers will give you more spring free travel than the 650 retainers will. Roughly .100" more.
You can also use GS1000 38mm Suzuki Intake valves. Also .050" shorter than standard KZ.
1.475" is target installed height for the large motors. On 750 motors you have to watch the dam service manual because it's not accurate for all 750 motors. They played with cam base circles. Watch the exhaust cams side especially.
What else do you need?

Larry- Where is a good place to find off the shelf stainless 37mm J valves? KPMI does not carry them, they only carry 38.5mm J model valves. Thanks for a source reference Larry
Jeff at Z1 should be able to hook you up with after market steel replacements and I have a source for stainless J valves.

That's what I was asking for Larry, your source for stainless J valves....unless it's a closely guarded secret  I can get the exhaust from KPMI, but I can't find the intakes anywhere off the shelf.porchev914 wrote:

Thanks every one! good info. I am picking bikes apart now. I just got a gpz750 home that I plan to pull the head off and see if the valves will fit a 1015 head. i am also listing the gs engines I run across also to get different parts.
