Oil Cooler Line was created by grumpy56
Have a leak where my oil cooler line attaches to the oil pressure switch (I think). It's hard to tell whether it is the oil line or the housing to which the oil pressure switch is attached. Removed the oil line and needed help with two things: (1) How can I tell if my line is any good? Does anyone pressure test them? (2) Any suggestions on where to get a new line? Since I have it off I figure I may just as well replace it. Thank you.

These are low pressure lines with pressures of 2.2-2.8 PSI, I replaced my Kawasaki supplied lines with new ones from Earl's supply some years ago.

I took a Dremel tool with a cut off wheel and opened up the crimp end of the hose fittings. 3/8" I.D. hose should fit.

I've found that using the fuel injection hose clamps will make for a tight fit without the squeeze out through the standard "worm" hose clamps.

low pressure system equals use whatever you want....
i used -8 or -10(cant remember off hand) with hose clamps and chrome covers to my cooler.....for reference each "-" equals 1/16 inch....-8 would be 1/2 inch......i ran mine around the right hand side of motor and freed up space under the tank where the rubber lines had been.....

I would pull the adapter block from the engine, where the switch and lines come out. It takes a 6mm Allen wrench for two bolts. There is three O-rings under it, this has leaked on both of my "J" bikes.

I will be mounting an oil cooler on my GPz1150 this spring. I plan on using stainless "gas flex" for the job. Mainly because in itself it will work as a part of the oil cooler. The line itself will dissipate a lot of heat. In this way, a very small cooler will dump a lot of heat by the time the oil will get back to the engine.

Good idea on the adapter block and lines. I will pull the adapter and find some new O rings. I have not removed the carbs and it is tight in there, but should be able to get it off and re-install it and the oil line.

Local Harbor Freight tool place had a box of viton O rings (assorted sizes) for 8 bucks recently.Might try them if the OEM stuff is hard to find.bj

Just removed the adapter. O rings do not look bad, but will replace them anyhow. However, there is an 11mm (head) bolt on the rear of the adapter that screws into the housing that has a rubber gasket/insert That one looks "squished" and the bolt was loose. What purpose does that bolt serve? One of the larger O rings circles it.
