Imo, it won't damage the bike.

As far as minute runs every day go, engine wear is worst at startup, before oil flows everywhere and before oil is warm. If you spend more time starting than you do riding, you'll end up with less time riding before an overhaul.

OK - a little off topic, but... STOP DOING THIS.

Your introducing fresh warm moisture into the engine every time. Its the best way to #@^% up a motor in any application!

These engines actually cool fairly well, and it could take many, MANY minutes of idleing to get the oil/engine hot enough to purge ALL of the moisture in there. Most cool days, I could let my engine isle for 30minutes+ and still have fog in the oil sight window. With a fan pointed at the head to keep the top end cool, the bottom end takes FOREVER to heat up!

Just try to ride the bike for more than 30 minutes at a time before shutting it down. The longer, the better. Then don't start the bike again until you intend on riding it.
Do the same before an oil change as well.

It will save your motor!

Best of luck!

PS. You need a baffled exhaust. Straight pipes run like crap (no low end power + weird lag spots in throttle), and are so loud I was stopped by police numerous times before getting a nice baffle.

When I say loud, I mean LLLOOOUUUDDD - gives you a headache LOUD after jsut a few minutes of riding on the freeway.

yea, mines pretty effing loud:D i stopped starting it everyday too. i thoght it would be good for it. The only reason i started to do that was because of my grandpa.. Hes a real packrat. He has 4 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass supremes.. and every one of them is falling apart because they just sit there. One of them has a stuck engine from sitting without being started. and the only reason he parked it was because the hood came up at 80 MPH and he was saving up for a new hood and windsheild like 20 year ago.. So i said to myself, i wouldn never let any of my vehicles sit to just rot away:D i guess after all, i would slowly be killing that beautiful woman out there in the parking lot:D

Ok, i know the video is short, i was getting ready to leave soon so i figured i would make a video quick before i left. Anyway, there it is. You can see clearly where the pipe broke off. If you look closely, you can see it flame out when it popps at 1:45-1:46.. TeK9ine, you said it would have no low end power and that it would have weird dead spots and stuff?? mine runs like a monster still. my main jet size is 122.5 i think which is stock. and it is kinda wide open too.. i still have tons of low end power and it will fly clear through till 7500 RPM if i want it to. (im not comfortable with speeding up the motor much more than that)
are my pilot adjustment screws just way off or something, causing it to run this awesome still?

Haha, i was just thinking the same thing   Hell i live in a house, and when i would fire up my 650 with the kerker people would get pissed, and when i would start my 900 with the wide open sidewinder header, lets just say the police came over more than a few times.

During the day, anyone who has a problem can eat $*^%:D im sorry but seriously, thats how i see it. Some of the people up here tried to get me and my dad booted out for starting our bikes and leaving in the middle of the night. They said that we revved them a whole bunch and then took off.. i never revved my bike at night before that.. then again, i didnt own a 1981 KZ1000 with wide open headers either. It was a 1982 Suzuki GS300L with wide open headers and it wasnt even that loud:D

Reminds me of when I was a kid. My best friend threatened to kill me because his baby sister would wake up screaming every night when I passed his house coming home from work at 12:30 AM. My BSA ran open headers, and I swear I barely idled coming down the street, but at night inside a house I guess it sounded pretty damn loud. Ed
