I have done this fix twice. The first time I just replaced the rollers and springs. That fix lasted a few thousand miles. The second time I did it right and replaced the entire assembly. The job is an all-day job, even if you have the parts sitting right there on your workbench ready to go. You will be tired when you are done. Get the entire assembly and do it right the first time.

 All day job! My boss would fire you...

Peace!

I have a hell of a time getting it into 2nd gear when the engine is not running... any tips? :P

That's normal for your bike. The '81 750 had the "Neutral Locator" feature that prevents the tranny from being shifted beyond 1st or neutral when engine is not running. Ed

Rebuilt the starter and it helps a lot but the clutch still slips a little when its not warmed up. Able to get it started now at least.

Next step I would guess is ride it till I have the cash to rebuild the starter clutch properly :P. Glad I got it to where it can start again with out pushing it.
