Wolf 4-1 ? was created by M357.5
Wondering if anyone has experience with a Wolf pipe ? and how it might compare to a Kerker or a V&H. I dont mind spendin money on my KZ750L4 but if the Wolf 4-1 I already have will perform in a similar fashion I'd rather spend my cash on other mods ( 810 Kit etc. )

I have a Muzzy here as well, stainless header. It would need some fab done to use springs at the head. It's not a bad looking pipe but the can is looooooonnnnng. I may just try both pipes and see how they compare.

I know the Wolf pipe was Canadian made, by Gary Wolf. Kinda cool B) it has a bit of retro flavour to it, the Muzzy looks much more modern.

I had a Wolf pipe back in the day (1985-6) I live in Ontario... you probably won't get too much feed back.

Which pipe? the cannister type or the one that was a Bassini knock off?

I did not have the cannister pipe so I cannot comment on that one but I did have the other type and can compare that to a V&H megaphone pipe and a Hindle cannister pipe from the same era.

My Wolf is a canister style pipe, didnt figure there would be much response being it was a Canadian made pipe. I've searched on the web for any info/pic's with no success. I'll see if I can find a pic and post it up. Good to hear you had good results with the Bassani knock off.

I ran a Bassani style meg on my KZ650 years ago, it was a left side exit pipe. I've never seen another one like it in person. It howled like a banshee, I loved that pipe.

I drooled over your KZ at the Paris swap meet....I'm sure you had to wipe it down before loading it up to head home LOL.

Here is the Wolf pipe in question.....

And here is the Muzzy pipe I may use instead, up in the air at the moment as I'm not sure if I want to keep it looking old school or not. ( This is my parts bike )

A fellow by the name of Gary Wolf, in the Kitchener/Cambridge area of Ontario built them. I like the pipe as well as it has a handbent primary header look similar to the early Yosh pipes...I've thought about cutting the canister off it and welding in either a Kerker meg or a Yosh style...I have access to a Carron end can as well ( Carron was a fellow that built Wofl pipes with Gary, then went on to build his own pipes/canisters under the Carron name )

That is all the info I have on Wolf pipes...and I've been searching for weeks, thats when I found out about the Carron canister I have too.

All my searches come up with a current company in the UK building pipes. Or a Subaru tunner company in AU. Or Walter Wolf hits....( RG500 Gamma fame as well as F1 etc. )

just depends where your heading as far as a final look really...both are a high quality killer pipes...and both are pretty good looking...i would give the nod to the wolf...but that is just my personal preference...i think it "looks the part"...fits the era look.....ect....

they are uber rare and made by someone who rode these bikes.....could not do much better...cool bike..i had an sr650 that we stuck a ltd 750 motor in and it would get down and boggie....

The SR is a bit of an abortion LOL, B model fenders F/R, 750E motor, headlighy/ears are off something else too. It's a future project or I may put it up for sale to help fund my 750L4, I'm stealing its pipe either way :)

Cycle Canada did an article about those two guys (Wolf and Hindle) I will try to dig it out... there were some pictures in there and it was a good article.

I favor the megaphone style pipes for the smaller motors because I am under the impression that they make more torque for street riding. It seems like the canister style pipes are tuned more for high RPM riding... just my opinion.

I have a lot of back issues of Cycle Canada going back to that era - will try to see if I can find anything... I do know that Wolf did not heavily advertise so finding an add would be rare - Cycle Canada would be the only source to find something... don't think anything made it on the web.

BTW - I am looking for a clean rust and knock free KZ650B front fender... similar to whats on that SR - do you have anything you could part with? If so could you PM me? THX
