yeah, there is no quit in me. Even if the crank is now toast that's ok, I wasn't going to give up without a fight...but who knows the crank will end up going out to make sure it's all straight and welding, so we'll see. If it's toast, I'll just get another one on ebay or on here...Luckily with these bikes parts are still around. Talking to my neighbor who used to own "flathead indian" and used to restore indians from the 30's and 40's I realized how good we have it...she used to sometimes wait years to find parts. In the meantime I will start on the body work and rims, swingarm and forks. SO the motor will have to wait for another day.

Before you smash it up with the new impact driver...

Hit it with some PB Blaster, or ATF w/acetone, or another real good penetrant. Let it sit for about an hour, then...

Torch the shaft nice and hot. Check the temp by putting a bit of spit on your finger, then tapping it very quickly like an engine header. When the spit just starts to transfer to the part and steam off, your ready. NOT TOO hot, just enough - like engine temps - around 200 degrees.

Lot of people think this heat will screw the magnets, but they will be ok. Just dont make it red hot! Keep checking... Not that it matters for you, cause your scrapping it anyways.

I have tried liquid wrench, release-all, and pb blaster, and let them all sit over night and torched it, no dice.
