heard a few of the guys here said they used a suzuki petcock and i think z1enterprizes sells an adaptor to change to a pingle valve, at the top right you can see a search forum block type in petcock and have fun!

The petcock on the '78 was different from the earlier years. Does your petcock use two bolts to attach it, or does the whole thing screw on? The '78 used two bolts...

lifeliberty has the right idea, it's what I did too. Drag Specialties and a Pingel adapter.
It's a manual petcock so you need to remember to shut it off...just like we did in the old days.

Z1Enterprises may have them, or DennisKirk, or Bike Bandit

The 77 was manual, the 78 vaccuum. Both mount the same. The filter on the petcock on a 78 was bigger diameter and won't go through the hole in the tank on a 77 (at least on the B model, the C may differ). If you can ream out your outlet hole a bit, a 78 will work fine. You need to run a vaccuum line from the 78 petcock to one of the vaccuum nipples on the 4 intake manifolds to get vaccuum to operate the new petcock.
The 77 manual petcock is a complete and utter piece of crap, so don't use that setup. Either get the vaccuum one or a Pingle.

Could someone take a second and double check these part numbers on the websites to make sure I am getting the right stuff (I have "0" bike mechanic ability, hopefully through this bike I will aquire some)
The drag specialties petcock number is DS-390214 www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/1732/210/2352699?q=ds-390214

and the adapter I found at Dennis Kirk # 192920
www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp?skuId=182920

Again, I apologize for my "noobness" and appreciate any help from you.

Thanks!

I highly doubt the Buell uses the same bolt spacing as a 1977 Kawasaki so I would wager to guess that no these will not fit.

Whats wrong with our (77) petcock setup vs newer ones?
