Wondering if sleeves can be pressed out by machine shop and new ones pressed in? Just musing here.

Bikerjim...just to be clear, larrycavan and PLUMMEN are not kidding...the sleeves can be relatively easily removed.

Seriously, they will fall right out. I've taken them out with a harbor freight $10 heat gun before.

They are NOT kidding ,
Good oven mitts ,
Make sure ALL the O rings are out ,
They stink ,
And I start about 325 ,
Put it on a cookie tray ,
Support the edges with something that wont burn ,
3/8 SS tubing works good ,
With the cyl upside down ,
And wait for the thunk.

Thanks. This is good info for the future, since the KZ750B twin has but 8500 miles. Bought it new in 1979, and if I only put another 8500 miles by bike age 60, then this info may really be moot at best. That would put me 95 years old, also. Let's see, can you mount a KZ using a cane? Kidding aside, I haven't found any sleeves advertized for this bike.

If you can't find them try LA Sleeve - if there not listed as a stock item they make custom sleeves any size.

If that's too expensive and you have access to a lathe just turn your own out of cast iron pipe - you only need two.

Nothing wrong with sleeves, yet. Just looking on down the road when replacement parts, new or used, may no longer be sourced, requiring some work around. Regarding turning cast iron pipe, that is interesting. Is that the material used for sleeves? I would have thought some type of hardened alloy would have been used. If cast iron, then do you think there is a special grade cast, or is cast just cast? That could really be useful at some point. About the oven business, I installed two new convection units for the wife. Now, she could cook a roast in one, and the cylinders could be in the other at the same time. Just have to wait until she burns the roast, then no problem with the smell in the other oven.....
