Kaw ignition..dyna wire and coils..the bike runs good..no plug fouling..insulators are dark like it is rich..I was just curious about what others were doing
Thanks
Buda
insulators are dark like it is rich --- If not already done, could perform clear tube test to assure float bowl fuel level isn't too high.
Good Fortune!

Standard heat range should be fine. Myself I don't like NGK and I do not believe in the new fangled plugs either. They are expensive and they do not last any longer on out bikes. I much prefer ND (Denso) plugs. I started running them back in 1979 and haven't looked back since W24ES-U. I run mine with a .060 gap and Dyna coils. I sold a bunch of sets gapped to .040 and the guys love them with my high performance wires. There have been a couple of mentions about my setups in past posts.

Gap looks about right.

I like dynaS on my 77 kz650c1 and my 79 kz1000b3. Better than points, but my plugs still foul out every 4 tanks of gas. Number 2 on the 1000 REALLY fouls out. I ride my 1000 to work so I would like a cheap rebuild. On the dynaS why is the stock system better?
Where there's good ignition system and components producing fat blue properly timed spark, and adequate compression plus valve clearances to spec, would next verify correct fuel level in float bowls by performing the clear tube test.
Even with everything else perfect, a too high fuel level may result in early plug failure due to fuel fouling and/or soot fouling.
Imo, it's important to first verify the fuel levels before addressing jetting or other internal carb settings.
Also, could set the pilot air screws a little leaner to see whether that helps.
Dyna-S is comparable to stock, but Dyna-S consumes a little more electrical energy, especially at idle and lower rpm, but easily within capability of the bike's charging system.
Good Fortune!
