Yep, I did not make the conversion. Damn, I gotta stop drinking when I'm working on the bikes! :S
I think one reason my head was going in the wrong direction was because when the head was cleaned up and the valve seals were replaced, the orginal valves were put back in. The mileage is so low on the bike, they didn't need replacing. Orginal shims back in orginal spots equals no change in valve clearances! I know, crazy shit huh. Just giving you some insight into my brain, free of charge! :silly:
When Jose`and my girlfriend Margarita are in the garage with me, this is what happens.
Anyway, thanks for straightening me out fellas. I'll remeasure tonight and update. If the clearances are too large, then, yeah, that would explain the noise.
Maybe some conversion for the yankee folks... pretty well known for most part
.05mm roughly .002 inch
.10mm roughly .004 inch
.15mm roughly .006 inch
etc. etc. etc.
If his error is a typo in mm, then were ok.
If he is using inches, those clearances are WAY too large!
So... whats up!
Inches... mm...

Alright, my handy dandy conversion program, which went missing when Margarita was in town  , tells me that my valve clearances are as follows:
1
2
3
4
Exhaust---0.30
0.25----0.20
0.27mm
Intake----0.22
0.35----0.22
0.22mm
Definately way off and explains the ticking noise.
New shim set ordered and on it's way!

Nice! My bike was the opposite when I looked into her this winter...6 of the 8 were at 0 and 2 were at 0.04!
