I need some exhaust help

My exhaust is 4 into 2 with a cross over.
I want to pull my stock mufflers and use internal baffles and then have custom pipes done. I haven't pulled the mufflers yet, but I wanted to look for the baffles now. I used my calipers and measured the OD of the pipe before the muffler as 1.18". I assume that gives me a 1" pipe ID? Is that right? That seems awful tiny.
All the baffles I've seen start at 1.5" and go up.
I assume that someone has pulled their stock pipes, is it really 1.18 OD?
I haven't pulled them yet because I have inspection coming up in a week.
Thanks in advance.

And they aren't rusty. The only part thats rusted is the screw and bolts holding the heat shield on that covers where the muffler attaches.

Before you cut on the stock pipes: if they are in good shape, they are worth a lot of bucks. Restorers are always looking for them.
Then how come I can't get rid of mine? Guess, I'll have to try selling on ebay? I've had on CL for now....

What about those Harley Coil baffles?
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123
They are 1.75". I could just cut off a couple coils to get down to 1" or whatever it is.

You're trying to fit baffles into the pipes where the stock mufflers were cut off?
Why not put the baffles inside the new pipes you plan on installing?

The header pipes are 1.25 I think, so why is it necked down so far? two pipes at 1.25 necked together at 1". That seems odd. Or is this to force the excess gasses through the crossover pipe?

Then they are not stock. Somebody already took the hacksaw to them. Those mufflers look like the ones JC Whitney used to sell.Cut them off? They look to me clamped on.
