With fan full blast aimed at engine:
First start up, no more than 5-10 minutes then shut her completely down and leave her alone till the following day.
Re-torque ALL engine bolts, engine to frame mounts, and head nuts.
First ride, no more then 50 miles or so, don't baby her but don't run her WOT either.... Now this is mostly for rings seating and such but you have new valves and head components you want to work as well....
Don't worry about carb jetting due to P&P yet... just run her for the time being... Sure, adjust your idle but nothing more....
Ride her home and let her sit over night (complete cool down).
Now you'll be real surprised how many bolts and nuts came lose.... Re-torque everything all again...
Keep an eye on the timing chain adjuster, no overkill this time....
As for the Liska top idler, once everything breaks in and you switch over to synthetic she'll quite down nicely...
Congrats brother...

Keith,
I see your current ride in the background of that last pic. But seriously, looks good! I wish that I could say I'll have a runner this week. BTW, where did those motor mounts come from?
sorry missed your ? the first time....they came with the bike....
Perhaps aftermarket cruise peg brackets.
Have enjoyed mine for many years. See image below.
Heavenly comfort during long hauls.
Also enables enough stretch-out to nap or sip while sitting on parked bike, leaning against pack and sissy bar.
May add some light duty case protection.
Am also admiring the braided oil cooler lines on keith's engine.
Good Fortune!

dave,
i pre-lubed like you would do.....lubed everything and did it again......i ran it for about 20 mins with a fan 20 ft away to blow everything outside...oil temp got to 140......i know from past experience besides the head bolts, the valve cover bolts will be loosey goosey and the exhaust flanges will need tightened...i have a list going of stuff to look at tommorow....i usually have a helping hand, but today was a solo job.....if i decide to keep working on bikes and gaining skills, i m going to have to invest in a bike lift...being 6-5 260 isnt helping my back and knees working on stuff 3 ft off the ground....

Hey OMR, when you re-torque, do you loosen then tighten, or just check the existing torque?
Thanks!
