I did a 810, cut the head .032, no portjob I have a set of V&H cams that I measured out to .365 at 283 dur, run a set of CV carbs dyno jetted and a 4to1 header I have it running but not moving yet, sounds super ,still doing a few things to make it road worthy, It started out as a 78 KZ650SR and is a totally custom caferacer. This is kind of one of my projects, not in a big hurry, when its ready I'll be done, I have several H1 500s and a 750 twin along with a 54 buick riviera rat rod in my project area along with the stuff life throws at ya, I ride a 74 H1 500 now and the buick has been getting most of my attention, but I will say this basic set up was discussed quite a lot on this site a couple of years ago when I started it but most were using the GPZ cams go to this site for good info members.tripod.com/gpz_rider/technical/FAQ2000.htm

thanks Agawam,

need to decide on my strategy for this racer build, i might start easy just to see what kind of power I get from an optimized setup with near stock parts and then proceed from there.

The original gpz made 68 rwhp on cycle mag dyno in stock condition, so lets see what I'll get from 11.5:1 CR, squished chambers, 29mm smoothbores, degreed gpz cams and a good 4-1.

cheers

Long break, but build (or rather disassemble) is proceeding well.

Lots of heavy stuff removed, from my weighting, looks like arriving to a 350 lbs. racer is doable.

One nice surprise was to discover that the GPZ's transmission has undercut dogs! When talking later with a tuner/friend he mentioned that indeed, with those GPZ's you could shift clutchless with real ease. Cute, compared to my CB500-4 where i had to undercut the transmission to stop it eating out the shift forks, this is heaven. The forks looks like new.

Not much else for the moment, next on the list is adding two little bracing tubes between the top tubes, blasting/re-painting the frame and then closing the bottom end and mounting it.

Cheers
