wiseco 1015 suprise! was created by toad
I pulled my motor and tore it down out of my kz900 and needless to say I believe I have wiseco pistons 1015.They have a stamp inside 4020 and a w.Is this correct? If so where could I buy a new set of rings for them? Also I only no tolerances for the 900 ,not the 1015.Could someone please tell me the bore to piston tolerance for this application, like how much play would be allowed to consider reusing these because they do appear to be in good shape, a quick measurement and they read 70mm.I also have a stock 900 gasket set or do I have to use the wiseco gaskets.
Sorry for all the questions, thanks for all the help!

The key is going to be the age of the Wiseco pistons. Wiseco changed ring groove size over the years.

The current setup has 1mm top, 1.2mm middle, and 2.8mm oil control ring.

It can be a problem, or it might not be. For one customer with a very nice set of old Wiseco pistons, he used the top two rings from our 70mm aftermarket oem replacement rings and reused the old oil control rings.

Using the old oil control rings isn't a big deal then.Or does your replacement rings come with them as well?

Jeff at Z1 seems to have the fix. If not, I've had good luck finding rings for old or oddball pistons including Wiseco & MTC from TotalSeal. You'll need the ring land dimensions as well as the 70mm. bore. www.totalseal.com

I'm not sure if Wiseco has changed their aluminum formula, but I just brought home a set of 1075 Wiseco pistons today, and the sticker on the box says .0020" or .051mm. I hope someone with more knowlege of Wiseco pistons can confirm or refute this

Wiseco puts .002' on everything. We set 1015s up at .0015" . Youcould get away with running those with up to .003"

This image was taken 7-12-2008 of my Wiseco 1015cc kit with rings # 2756XC... Fairly newer Wiseco stamps the piston numbers across the domes.

Your pistons look like this one (outside of carbon build up of course)?

Maybe a picture of the cleaned piston would help these guys...
