Thats why I started where I did, but you really can't ignore the benefits of having already done all the basic maintenence required.
On a machine that looks fairly decent, and has been running fine for some time, I usually just check easiest stuff first.
But when someone comes in to me with a bike that he has just acquired that was sitting for some time and looks like chuff, well thats a different story... valves!
