I remember my pistons (and everyone I have seen) have a taper from top to bottom with the skirt (bottom) being the widest so it has the tightest fit to the cylinder and the top having a lot more clearance.And the clearance (which should be .040~.067mm) is correct at about .050 all around the piston.

yea, it was measured at spots around the bottom as the book suggested. Surprisingly, this piston had the best compression of the set. I can't afford a new piston right now (unemployed and poor) so I'll try the cleanup and see if it works for a while.
