With sufficient oil pressure you should never get a spun bearing. I can't see it spinning just because you overrevved it either. Once hydrodynamic lubrication is achieved in the bearing, I can't see it happening. The only thing that could cause the bearing to lose hydrodynamic lubrication would be a loss of pressure or a loss of viscosity (eg: overheating).

I would think you'd hear of a lot more of these engines spinning bearings if overrevving was the culprit. I personally think that it's overheating, the extra power in the engine can do that. Have you thought about an oil cooler? Maybe the GPz750 had one for a good reason.

i was just saying that if you plan on racing, or making alot of power you should plan on always fixing, or replacing worn parts. I was making the comment that with how the bike was ran, i had it coming for something to go wrong. Its just part of racing But even that one year of riding that little beast, it was way worth it B)

That is called "stacking bearings", I have seen it a lot on race motors, it is caused by lack of lubrication and high RPMs,
It starts out on the top bearing, since it is the one taking the load when the cyl fires, lack of oil will let the bearing hammer against the crank, flattening it out somewhat, thats why you see the edges pushed out the side of the rod, once the clearance is there and the top bearing is thin, it will grab on the crank and spin lodging itself inbetween the crank and lower bearing.
the oil pressure will seem fine since it is now thight on the crank, but it will knock when a little throttle is applied and when the RPMs come down.

yes sir, that is exactly how it sounded. It still ran pretty good, just seemed a little more sluggish maybe
