Jugs from a KZ900 was created by rayellis
I have a 1980 KZ750E and I have a friend who has jugs and pistons from a KZ900 903cc 68mm and KZ1000 1015cc 72mm. I was wondering what would it take to put this in my KZ750?

I know I would need some some machine work but how much more would have to be done?

Thanks
Ray

72 mm is a 1075 if i remember correctly....1015 should be 70 mm...?

I know money is the great limiter, but I do not think it is possible...the spacing between the pistons/jugs/cylinders of the 750 is smaller than that for the 903.

A thread where I ask many of the same questions you are. Now a z1 900 block will not fit because of cylinder spacing.

You can fit 900 liners, but I would rather (and will!) have custom liners made; you then benifit from all the advances in material since the z1 was released. I am not sure what advances there have been, but I am going to asume (dangerious) that some progress has been made in this field.

Now 900 pistons, or kz1000 or whatever. The valve angles are somewhat different so you will need to check to make sure the pockets on the piston will work for you. Otherwise you have made an expensive valve bending machine! Also the wrist pin sizes are different (17mm on the liter bikes, 16mm on the gpz turbo and 15mm on the kz650/750). This means you need custom rods. Carrillo can set you up; but it will not be cheap!!

You could also (as I am thinking about) have new custom pistons made up. I plan on giving some different manufactures a call when the time for that comes. Again you benifit from advances of technology.

Can you get a kz650/750 up to 73mm? (900cc's) Oh yeah! but I doubt that size bore is streetable as the block will be bored through in places to fit the liner. 72/71mm is more where I am looking. They spec out to 880cc and 860cc's not much gain over the avaiable 810 kit. Unless you have a goal that will require the extra effort, I doubt it is what you want to do. The 810 kit may be a better choice for you.

As previously said though; all it takes is money. And so you are not dissapointed; going to 900cc's along (and even with alot of other work!) will not give you a "sportbike killer" most new bikes will still blow past you and make your woman giggle at you.

bought it because I was told it would never run again...I like to prove people wrong.
