alright, i have the manual for the 76 900 right in front of me.....its pretty much what i posted loosen the locknut and unscrew 3-4 turns....now tighten it untill its hard to turn and back it out 1/2 turn...tighten locknut....do mid adjuster as noted previously and manual is looking for 1/16 to 1/8 at lever.....this is right out of manual for 73-77 900/1000 cc fours ...hope it helps

Decided I needed to go do this or it would drive me nuts. Took no time at all. I had the thing way too tight. I reset it, and cranked it up, put it in gear and the clutch felt good. I didnt go ride but let it out in first in the garage a couple of times and it felt fine.

Thanks a lot for the help.

"now tighten it until its hard to turn and back it out 1/2 turn" .... A little tip that I learned from Grumpy ass Plummen....

I have a '76 KZ900 setup.... As in my book (above sentence), this didn't work out well either... Hell I would be at the very end of the clutch lever release before it would engage, no matter what I did with the cable adjustments, it just wasn't right....

Trial & error, re-adjustments you name it... Just wasn't ideal.

Don't tighten the screw until hard... Tighten just until you feel it make contact with the push rod... Now back it out an ~ 1/8 turn or so, then lock her down with the nut....

Now make your cable adjustments...

This now allowed for proper operations & my preferred clutch lever action where it now engages ~ 1/2 the clutch lever pull...

Give it a try.... may work for you as well... ;)
