Better exhaust tone? was created by polkat
How can I get a Harley rumble (yes, I know it's mostly impossible) out of my stock KZ750 exhaust system? I've heard of doing something with the muffler baffles, but don't know what it is. Thanks!

If it's a KZ750-4 simply remove the #1 & #3 spark plugs. If it's a KZ750 twin you only need to remove the #1 spark plug. :P

Actually, I was serious. I'm not looking for the classic V twin sound, but at least for a deeper note.

Believe it or not, the MAC header on my 750 twin has a decently low rumble. Most of the typical ones (like my last one) I hear just have a loud howl.

The MACs are not high performance systems, but I do like the sound.

Then push it because the other plug won't fire without his brother....

I would think to get that "Loping" sound, you'd really have to screw your timing up and jetting/carb adjustments....

Get a Kerker (best), Vance & Hines (better), or Mac (good) pipe and then start experimenting with the baffle until the sound you want comes out of the end. ;)

You basically can't make these old bikes sound anything close to the penetrating off-beat rumble of a Harley.

The crank positions and engine/exhaust volumes are completely different. No matter what exhaust you get, your bike will still have a continous, not so "bass-y" note.

It's the nature of the beast, and its what's required to go faster! :P

Cheers.

PS. I really do like the sound of Kerkers', but it is nothing close to the volume of Screamin' Eagles.

PPS. OH Yeah! , If you screw with your baffles, you WILL LOSE POWER - just like a Harley
