valve cover gasket

I've had this conversation with many people and nobody seems to recall the rubber gaskets. I had one for nearly 20 years and reused it about as many times with no problems. I swear they were rubber! I have searched high and low for another rubber gasket and can't find one anyhwere. My rubber gasket finally got hard and broke apart on my last disassembly a few years ago. Maybe it was aftermarket but it was rubber for sure - real thick too which helped my bigger cams to clear the cover. I hate the thin junky gaskets out there now.

how is your gasket holding up now? anymore leaks? mine is starting to squeeze out a bit too. no big leaks yet, just some minor seepage. I will take it out and reseal it again. I also noticed some seepage from the bolt holes that come through the bottom of the head. I’ll have to seal them as well.

So far, so good, but I don't have many miles on it yet. I went with the vesrah gasket this time which seems to be the thickest one out there. I also used gaskacinch all over it and lock washers on the cover bolts. Got my fingers crossed...
