Non KZ question for APE Jay

I am wondering if the cylinder on my Kawasaki ZL1000 is an APE cylinder? It is not stock because it has cooling fins on it. I am wondering if it was a kit that was available? Did the cams get changed too? It runs good and pulls hard. I bought this not to long ago and i am just trying to figure out what i have without taking it apart.

Could be. If it is air cooled with coolant only circulating thru the head, then it is. We did about 60 of those with 80 mm pistons.

If that motor is still healthy, it will still give fits to a lot of newer bikes in a redlihgt to redlight contest. I like the Eliminators....just wish Kawasaki made them chain drive.

Larrycavan, Although i just put tags and insurance on it and have not ridden it much it seems to run good and fast!:woohoo:

I have a friend with a Busa that wants me to go to the drags with him and see what i can do with it! I have never drag raced anything before so im not sure if i will try it.

Don't let inexperience stop you!!!

Start off easy. Guys will give you tips and help you. I promise. After that first nerveous pass, you'll want to turn around and get right back in line.

IF ever a motorcycle was designed to leave quickly....it's that one!

larry is completly right don't let a bit of nervous twitch's stop you'll have a blast that bike is almost perfect for fast hard leaves like larry also said to bad it wasn't chain drive but i have seen over the years more than one that had been converted to chain you have yourself a really cool ride from the sound of it. go have some fun with it that's what bike were invented for in the first place. go drag racing once and you will be hooked.

Yeah, i probably will do it sometime. And like you said once i do it a couple times i may be hooked!
