new exhaust - opinions wanted was created by jtmcculloch
I just picked up a new old stock 1981 KZ1000J/KZ1100 exhaust.

It will take some modifications to make it fit but I wanted to know what yall think.

brackets to hang the rear will be no problem.

I will need to make stops for both the side stand and the main stand to keep them from riding on the pipes.

but on the head side there is a lot of differance.
looks like i will have to take my old split-collars and shorten them to make up for the differance in the design of the pipes. i will have to be pretty exact to ensure that the cuts are square and of just the right length so that they seal and dont put excessive strain on the retaining collars.

the kerker will be cleaned up - rechromed and stored for use on another bike or sold in the future at at a profit when nice old style kerkers are impossable to find.

I think it looks great. Either way, your bike is killer.

I think that string's going to burn straight through when those good looking pipes get hot. To save you any heartache, just untie them and send them over to me. I'll take good care of them.
