NINE friction plates??? was created by Mike W.
Got the ignition and the battery issues fixed up. Not knowing when to quit, I thought I'd "throw a new clutch in" before my trip tomorrow. I'm a genius you know. Pop the side cover and out comes a deck with NINE friction plates and EIGHT metal ones. How the hell did he even fit them in? I imagine I should only put 8 back, like the book says... like I did twice in my other KZP... but I mean, my #2 bike is apparently used to too many. Should I hold back on her?

Still dreaming of that job that goes JUST right...

Just started to assemble the clutch.. there really is NO way this is going back together with just 8 friction plates. I'm stymied... anyone have any idea what's going on?

what kind of bike is it?i think shaft bikes have an extra disc compared to chain drive, could also be an extra plate kit from aftermarket.the plates should be a little thinner to allow it to all fit B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

It's a 99KZ1000P (J motor). Same kit I've been buying from Z1 for a while (all I do is cop drills so I use clutches faster than most).

Thanks,
Mike

Buttoned up... 9+8. I have 1.5 clockwise turns worth of clutch wear I can live with on the adjuster on the left side. That can't be right. I'm guessing I'll end up putting another friction plate and disk in there as thing thing wears. As this is my drill bike, I'll probably be there in a matter of weeks. If someone knows the stupid thing I'm doing this time (my 4th? clutch on a KZP), please do let me know. Test ride time... wouldn't 11pm be just the PERFECT time to hear that THUNK on the left side? :)
