What kind of gasket sealer do you use on those half moon cam rubbers to seal them. I used yamabond 4 and they seem to be sliding out. Should I flip them around reverse. They were new and I just put sealer on one surface.

Three bond is good, but you need to get the aluminum dead clean with acetone. Scrape all the old stuff off first. Try this to get the plugs installed right:
Apply a film of 3-bond to the curved side of the rubbers and to the aluminum area they mate with. To get the rubbers set up in the right place, I set the cover on (no gasket) and lightly tighten down some of the screws until the tops of the rubbers are level across the top edge of the head. Let it dry overnight and the rubbers should be installed very solidly in the right place. You can then install the gasket and close it up.
If you install the gasket and rubbers at the same time, the gasket will force the plugs too far down because the gasket compresses between the aluminum areas but stays full width above the plugs and pushes them farther down. You don't want that.

I used the grey colour versa? silicon high temp gasket/sealer. Comes in a tube from Autozone. No leaks. Put plenty on and just make sure the plugs don't push out as you torque down the cam cover.

I use the Ulra HI-temp black gasket maker from auto zone as well. Three bond is a lot stronger and I think a better choice for something you don't plan to take out anytime soon like the rubber plugs, not for gaskets. I use the black stuff for gasket sealing because it scrapes off easily if I have to remove the cam cover.
That's what mine did: when I put the sealer on the plugs and tried to install the gasket and cover (and torque it down) while it was wet the plugs came out. The next time I applied sealer only under the plugs and used the cover to push the plugs down level and let them dry overnight. Then I installed the gasket and torqued it down and the plugs stayed put.BARNEYHYPHEN wrote:

Dont bother with the sealer stuff, it goes everywhere.
Just clean up the metal surfaces really good with acetone. Then wrap the plugs 8 times with folded over teflon tape, so that they are bulging up about 2mm above the surface when you install them. When you clamp down the cover, you'll have no leaks for good.
Cheers.

do like jay say's and get rid of the problem forever or put the the plugs in backwards so they can't push out try not using any sealer if possible as it can cause them to spit out.

I used the bond case sealer under my end caps and they are aluminum....
In speaking with others who also have aluminum end caps, a little sealer was required in their heads as well....
You don't have to goop it on, just a thin coat...
Then lay your valve cover on top insuring they are parallel with your head... Let the sealer dry then tighten the cover down..
