Sounds like an exhaust leak to me. Much easier to remedy than a bent valve...check the condition of the brass orings in the exhaust ports which seal the head pipes to the cylinder head. Good luck.
I'm hoping exhaust leak as well. It's got 8 brand new Kibblewhite stainless steel valves, was vaccum checked after recutting the seats - it definately can't be a bent valve.
The builder gave me a list of clearances. 6 are .004 and two are .005 - spec for I/E are the same .002-.006.
It has to be an exhaust leak. C'mon 5 o'clock I want to get home and find out!!!

exhaust leak did you use the old ones?

Nope used new ones. And actually through my excellent rapport with Rob @ Z1Ent., and him asking at one point if I was doubling up the copper crush OEM type gaskets as I had asked for 8 - he recommended I get the model shown below instead as it is 5mm thick instead of 3mm.
I do have two more full sets of the thicker, and if I find the leaking pipe, I will double it!
