What to expect... was created by Bdog
Beginning the slow build of an 1105 motor, though on a budget and I have a line on a good head and cams. They are stock and I will prolly run BS34 carbs and pods and 4-1 V+H pipe. what kinda power to expect and what are some low buck and worthwhile upgrades? J model head and cams? Thanks, first big motor.

if the motor is done right i'd be looking for between 100 and 110 horsepower once it has broken in and everything is setup right. i'd stay with the kz head over the j head on a small motor like a 1105 the j does flow better but it becomes a bit of a pain to get the compression up to where it needs to be because of the size of the combustion chamber. it is a lot bigger in the j head. if the kz head is ported properly i can make very good power. i'd use cam's that had about .410 or less lift that way you can stay with the stock shim over set-up. its better for a street motor easier to maintain and less exspensive to set-up. if i where you i'd look at a complete carb change i'd be after a set of 31cr's that you can buy brand new for about 700.00 if you get a set of 29 smoothbores they are asking crazy money for thoses by the way you probably will still have to go thru them and do a bunch of work to them and it will probably cost you more in the long run then if you went5 and bought new. and you still would have thirty year old carbs,if you use the 34's and pods you will need a jet kit and really good filters to make them work right and probably have to go thru those as well and you end up with twenty five year old also that may or maynot work well.
