Gotta rebuild my KZ1000 engine, need help.

Yesterday I traded out some parts for a KZ1000 enigine. Guy said it was a good engine just needed the electrics and the carbs rebuilt. It did'nt have the kicker on it so I did'nt have a way to check it. I decided to go ahead and get it anyway. Well since I had time today I dug out a kicker from my storage room and tried it on the engine. Turns out its froze up. Can't really get mad cause I took the chance on it but I'm still not real happy that he bullsh*ted me.
So I tried looking for more info using the engine serial number but I can't find one close enough to it.
KZT00GE002973 is stamped on it. Any ideas? Also What are good mods and parts suppliers for these engines. This one is going on my chopper project. If I get by my storage room tomorrow I'll take some pics of it to post up.

what are you wanting to do with the motor as far as power goes.let me know then we can start from there also how big of a budget do you have for it.

Well I am building it for my chop. Plus I probly run it on the track too. I won't be in a hurry on it since I still got the dragbike to do as well as my streetfighter project. I'd like to go big on it and make it fast as all get out.

the get a hold of ape try the kz zone they have every thing you will need and the nice thing about ape is they have complete kit's pistons, cams, retainers, springs the hole 9 yards. they will even bore the cylinders or if you have a real big wallet you can get a big block ape not only has everything you will need but they also manufacture most of the stuff they sell and most of it is all hardcore performance stuff.

Thanks timebomb, I'll check them out. I might need them for my kz900 dragster too. What kindof tranmission mods should I do to this motor?

depends on how much power and what kind of tire combo but you probably can get away with just a straight under cut transmission. with the car tire set-up you might want to go with a hardened second gear but for the street and some drag strip use just an undercut on the dogs should work good for you. you will fall madly in love with ape's site it's like porn for go fast guy's. also check out schnitz racing or star racing there are so many to chose from.but ape has it all. and the nice thing about ape is they actually manufacture alot of stuff for everybody.also check out mtc they have the best pistons money can buy and lot's of other cool stuff as well. you have just got into one of the most modifiable bikes there is around.

On this one I'm just gonna be running sportbike 17 inch soft street compound tires. So an undercut should work fine. Thanks for the info man.

those kits are definitly the way to go im looking at the 1428 kit for my next big motor i have an extra 1393 kit but i don't have the one for the j head only the one that is in my motor now so i'm thinking of selling this extra big block and going and buying the complete kit from ape then all i need is another crank that can handle a big load of happy gas. oh and a 3500.00 wiseman transmission that is all.oh and a mtc slider clutch that is all i need .oh and a completly new set of electronics, you get the picture right it never stop's.

So umm........ stupid question, How do you know whether or not its a J motor? I did notice it has those emmissions caps on the cam cover and theres a odd looking cap/plate looking thing on the head just above the carb intakes.
