Clearance When boring case........

So my last thread took a unexpected turn but one of you told me to have a clearance of at least .01 is that what i should tell the shop because they told me that the Ducatti the bored the cases on called for .03 (i think thats what he meant...he said 30 , but that was the desk jockey out front)

does anyone know where to find this info? or can anyone give me this info. im boring the top case half of my 650 to take the 750 clys. I dont have a FSM, just a Clymer.

Yeah he probably said 30 thou, that is .030". I doubt you'd have an issue if they used 30 thou instead of 10. Although I dont know how much that'd impact your gasket sealing surface. Maybe tell them to use 20 thou?

ten(.010) is plenty.you just need a slip fit.they are going to be set up when they are all room temperature and then torqued.after that they will heat cycle at the same rate and you are not going to have any problems.if ten sounds to close for "you" go with what they think.people do it with dremel tools,so a nice precision cut with "some"clearance will be fine.

thank you. i'll tell him .010 thank you. just dont want him to do too much so i can get a good seal still

any time i have to bore a set of cases i always go with .010" that should be lots if you go anymore using a big block that dosent give much case to play with and the gasket surface gets pretty thin
