I have a 1978 kz1000 ,I have 2 questions first I did not resleeve the engine opted for just boring it out(1105),will this be a major problem for the bike? I would like to street ride it some and a little drag racing. My next question is I have a set of 420 webcams. I have underbucket shims and bigger valve springs heads ported and polished will I need any more head work done for the cams to function properly?

time for a set of sleeves or possibly find a dragracer with a nice set of 1075s and a cylinder who wants to trade.in my experiance you wont have enough meat to keep the rings seated for extended period of time, same problem with taking stock 900 sleeves to 1015.:(

yes its fine since you are running larger sleeves. The original post states he is running the stock sleeves, which were not meant to be bored that far.

no way youre getting an 1105 out of stock 903 sleeves, thats considered the absolute max for stock 1015 sleeves takes out the taper in bottem of bore on stock 1015 sleeves which also makes install a major pain.i know a few people here locally running the 1105s with stock sleeves they all bitch about overheating issues,so i say to stay one size under max as a good rule of thumb.thats why i always build 1170s and 1197s instead of 1260s to help keep bores round and rings sealed.B)

as some of these fine people have already stated those sleeves are mighty thin and if they get to hot they will go out of round and you will lose ring seal the only thing i can recomend to you if changing to bigger sleeves is out of the question is use very good oils change it often and run a good oil cooler. with summer coming up try to keep it from idling too much and try to keep the heat down in the motor as much as possible. try not to getstuck in sturgis traffic jams for 3.5 hours in 110 degree heat if you do shut it off and push it. been there bought the shirt.

Wiseco says that you do not have to resleeve for a 1015 to go to an 1105, that was the guide I was going by for a J model it says to resleeve but for an A model it says you dont have to. as for the cams and the headwork that needs to be done does anyone no the cost I'm a little short on money with the recession and all.

My post doesnt say it was an 900 bored to 1105 with stock sleeves, it says it was a 900 sleeved to 1105. I assure you it was a 900 76 motor to start with. Anyway Im glad to hear its not a problem but I wasnt going to lose any sleep being as its still going after all that time. Im sure they werent on top of the technology then like they are now. If it scattered tomorrow it doesnt owe me a dime. It sure was a badass in its day though
