So Im staring my build project, and attemptng do it right (this time) by not making impulsive decisions but actual plans. So my ? is. What is the most reliable hp one can get out of a kz1000 motor? And also were is the power (high rpm I assume) (torque is always fun)
I am open to turbo etc...... but we all know more hp/torque less relaibility (normally)

last time i dynoed my street bike it made 114 horsepower 79 ftlbs oftourque it is very street freindly i have ridden it to sturgis 3 times lots of weekends ripping around i have almost 16,000 miles on this rebuild and it always fires up first kick with the way it is geared it will do 135-140 mph easy and it cruises right along at 100+ with no effort it is a 10.25-1 wiseco 1075 kit .395 web cams big valve head lots of port work[by me] 29 smoothbores the frame and swingarm have been braced so the bike is very tight handling and just flat out works well. it has gone 10.79 at 123mph in the quarter with a lot tighter gearing than i normally run on the street i would recommend this kind of set-up any day good reliability and good power what more do you want out of a bike for the street that actually gets ridden more than 25 miles a year over to the starbucks or the bar.

Tire bomb, I love it! That is the exact same thing I am doing with my 80 ltd using JE pistons instead and was curious to know about the hp and reliability as well. A hundred or more horsepower is great at the rear wheel I think.
As you know I decided to wait on that zx 14. I pay my house off in June and I have my old 79 ltd that I am ashamed to say is in the corner all naked and half stripped. I am going to put the same amount of money in to her motor as you did with your motor. Ceramic bearings, balanced crank indexed trued welded shaved backcut trans, powdercoating frame and even going to put custom perches on her that cost around a grand. All of the stainless engine kit bolts and even a clear clutch cover. Was thinking too if I could update the gauges as long as they could fit in to the stock bullets as that is what is an integral part of the cosmetic appearance of this bike. I am quite sure that it will be around or upwards of 15k on that rebuild. So I am glad I didn't buy that bike if for that one reason even though the zx woulda been a hella ride. I have had my 79 since the 80's. Twould be a crime if I just let her go to waste. Then next year once my house is paid for I can have three bikes.

Did you contact that dude that has the kaw for 3gs on craigslist. You remember the one with the crushed velvet seat? lol That bike I would bet money for the money was more of a bike than the one you wanted to buy from our favorite guy at his shop that we can't mention on this sight because he doesn't support kzr. Trust me don't feel bad by not getting that bike. Whoever bought it will have buyer's remorse guaranteed.Hello guyz,
