What effect on the motor will blocked off exhaust balance tube have? The reason or asking is i just acquired another KZ1100A that is in pieces. The guy i got it from (free) told me the the motor had gotten hot because the timing had jumped:huh:. I think the balance tube helps scavenge the exhaust so what would happen if it were blocked off

Got rid of the balance tube when i cut the baffles out of a set of stock pipes once. Ran just fine

When rebuilding my 4 into 2 exhaust system, I first ran without a balance tube. Performance was OK, but the sound was slightly harsh. Added a balance tube. Sounds much smoother. It seemed to run a little better on the low end, but barely detectable. Definitely not enough difference to hurt the engine.

the cross over tube does help with the pulse of the exhaust, no you dont have to have it, but it does help.
As stated before you prob will not notice any difference.

as far as getting hot, I would bet more on someone running it low on oil causing the problem. just a guess though

OK Thanks for the replies. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Has a lot of good parts might even try to put it back together.
