Does anyone have any info on building a pipe? can one be bent with normal pipe bending equipt? or does it require specialty stuff?
I took my Kerker to a muffler shop today. they said they couldn't alter the bend at the collector. it wouldnt fit into there bender as 1 piece. they could only bend a straight piece of pipe.

Mark, do you want the "how to" for pipe bending or the "calculations" for header length?

Those are great pic's. How about some measurements?B)

The bare pipe pics were from Ebay a while back, but the black pipe is hanging in my garage :) . I'd be happy to take some measurements. Tube diameter, length, bend angles etc? Let me know what you need, and I'll work on it tonight.

Ok. i'd say we need the primary I.D. or , and length of each.
then the length and OD.of the collector from the end of its taper to the end of the pipe. if there is a step or magaphone, we will need the length to each step and its ID. Or OD.
Thanks B)

I know where to get some of the math and the takeup info for pipe bending. It may take me a few days to get it but I will try my best.

Thanks. I think it will be interesting to compare these pipes to each other and to todays tech.B)

Mark, here is what I came up with. All measurements taken with a tape held in the center of each pipe radius.

Outer Primaries: 30" 1.5" o.d.
Inner Primaries: 31" 1.5" o.d.
Collector Length: 4.75"
Megaphone Length: 27.75" 3" o.d.

I also came up with rough bend numbers on the megaphone. 27 degree bend at 11.875" from one end, and another 27 degree bend at 4.5" from the other end. Here's a pic, and let me know if you need more specific info. I also have a V/H pipe if you'd like some measurements from it.

I also read about using a ball mandrel for bending performance exhausts. Would be a must for this type of thing I imagine. Here's a link to a good article........

Thanks Keith, and John.
That denco looks like it has long primaries.
Kieth , does the V&H have to be removed for an oil change? it reminds me of the race Kerker.
anyone have a good pic of the Kereker race pipe?B)

mark,
just catching up to thread now....oil change no problem...if you change on kickstand, everything drains away as pipe collector runs on right side and filter can be removed with a minimal of finangling..
i still have the black kerker that came on bike(its in a heap of junk in shed)but i remember it crossed underneath bike and made things a little more messy......
